NAB Show: Behind The Scenes

Here's a quick look behind the scenes from our NAB Show spot. First, we wrote it with Don Schaaf and Friends, then jumped into production with Vinegar Hill over the course of a few crazy days in Pittsburg. It was quite an experience and we were able to document the process a little bit.

Here is a short video from the set:

Also, here are some storyboards from pre-production with images of how they actually turned out :

Persist

So next time you hit writer's block, or your computer crashes and you lose an entire night's work because you didn't hit save (always hit save), just remember: you're never far from that next burst of divine creativity. Work through that 97% of murky abyssmal mediocrity to get to that 3% which everyone will remember you for!

—Austin Madison via Letters of Note

We all have those times of frustration and creative stagnancy. Good to remember that we push through because that burst of inspiration is always lurking right around the corner.

Future Primitive

Love seeing art and beauty in all of life. This collection of skateboards from Powell-Peralta is just a fantastic example of the creativity and passion that can be put into anything.

Never Satisfied

But, satisfied creatively? No. That’s probably part of being an artist - you’re not ever satisfied. I can look back over the 100 final pieces in the book and there are things I would do differently. You’re never done, you just run out of time. I don’t think I’ll ever be satisfied. I look back on things I did 2 years ago and I don’t like it anymore. As a creative person, you’re constantly trying to reinvent, so I chalk it up to that. I’m not satisfied because if I ever did get satisfied, I would start to die as an artist.

—Matt Stevens on The Great Discontent

Pretty insightful thoughts on the nature of creative work. There is always a dissatisfaction that is driving us to become better. We've made some things we're proud of, but we haven't made anything that couldn't be better somehow. It keeps us hungry.
